Brian Carroll

Brian is currently a junior in The School of Hospitality Business. This is his second year being involved with Les Gourmets. He is originally from Northville, MI. This summer he hopes to intern in either London or Georgia at the InterContinental Hotel. After he graduates in May 2011, Brian’s dream is to hopefully work for IHG and be the General Manager for one of the InterContinental Hotels around the world. (top)

Brett Kane

Brett is currently a sophomore, planning to apply to The School of Hospitality Business at the end of this semester. This is Brett's second year of involvement in Les Gourmets, moving from a volunteer last year, to a front-of-house supervisor this year. Originally from Northbrook, IL, Brett has completed his Level I internship this past summer at family-owned kosher restaurants, Slice of Life and Hy Life Bistro, in Skokie, IL. (top)

Jo Tic

Jo Tic is planning on going into the fine dining segment of the hospitality industry. This summer, Jo will be working in Kalamazoo at the Radisson Hotel. She is from Sterling Heights, MI and is a is a Front of the House Supervisor. Jo will graduate in 2011, and plans on moving to a big city to work in an up-scale restaurant. (top)

Tracy Duve

Tracy is currently a junior in The School of Hospitality Business. This is her second year with Les Gourmets. She is thrilled to have been given the opportunity to be a front of house supervisor for this year's event. She completed her level one internship at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center in banquets. She is very excited to be able to combine Les Gourmets with her very familiar, and still present place of employment at the Kellogg Center. Her level two internship is still in the works, but she plans on finding a hotel internship on the west coast this summer. She found her love for hospitality while growing up working at Ann Arbor Country Club and at Hawk Hollow Golf Course during the summer. While still undecided on exactly what direction she wants to go in hospitality, Tracy plans on exploring all the areas that the hospitality industry has to offer. (top)

Robert Lewis

Robert has just completed his level one internship working in various areas of the kellogg center's kitchen, and he plans on completing his level two internship this summer. Robert participated as an HOH volunteer at Les Gourmets 2009 and wants to make 2010 even better. He also enjoys snowboarding and playing hockey whenever he gets a chance. (top)

Lily Henrichs

Lily is currently a junior here at State. She has always been interested in cuisine and hopes to kick up the heat at this year’s Les Gourmets. Lily has been working on her first internship during the school year at MSU Bakers. There she has enjoyed the art of baking and is interested in the sales side of the business. This summer Lily will be interning for the world renowned company, Ecolab, as a sales representative. (top)

Nicole Scherff

GRADUATION Fall, 2012
Nicole graduated culinary school from the Illinos Insitute of Art in Chicago last spring, and this is her first year at Michigan State University. She previously worked as a cook at the Union League Club in Chicago under a great mentor, Chef Michael Garbin. Going on three years, Nicole has worked in the demo kitchens at the International Housewares Show in Chicago under another great mentor, Susan Marzano. Nicole was on the board of the American Culinary Federation in Chicago as a Junior Represenitive, and she is currently the co-director of events for the Society for Food Service Management. Nicole is also an active member in CMAA, Camp Kesem, and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. She is very excited to be in the heart of house for her first Les Gourmets. (top)

Ben Ackerman

Hailing all the way from the west side of Michigan is Ben Ackerman. Currently a junior in The School of Hospitality Business, graduating in the spring of 2011. He developed his passion for food at an early age; seeing people's faces and excitement after eating something so delicious, he knew it was his calling. After graduation, he plans to forgo culinary school in hopes of traveling to Europe and around the United States learning from many talented chefs before eventually opening his own restaurant/gastropub. The slow food movement and using sustainable, organic products is what really inspires him to his career in the hospitality industry. And of course, Ben is more than excited to be a supervisor for this year's Les Gourmets 2010: Beneath the Mediterranean Sun. He looks forward to seeing everyone on March 27! (top)

Nate Redner

Nate is very enthusiastic to be part of The School's premier event. Having taken a trip to Madrid, Spain he is confident that he will be able to be a contributing member of this year's Heart of House staff. Being an HOH supervisor will be an exciting opportunity to apply not only his experiences abroad but also his five years of restaurant experience at both Monte Bianco as well as Bay Harbor Yacht Club where he recently completed his level one internship. After graduation, Nate would love to return to Spain to run with the bulls. (top)

Chad Smith

Chad has loved to eat and cook food since he was little. After turning 16, he started working at T.W. Friends (a nice Italian restaurant) as a line cook. It was in this position that he developed his passion for the restaurant industry, though he didn't realize at the time that he would enter college to pursue it academically. This past summer, Chad worked in Florida at the Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort; there he worked at the Private Country Club on Property, Burnt Pine, as a bartender and server. Currently he is working for Stillwater Grill as a line cook. After graduation, he is planning to go to culinary school to further his knowledge of the food industry. (top)

Abigail Clark

Abigail Clark is a sophomore from Carmel, Indiana. She is excited to serve as a reception supervisor for Les Gourmets 2010. Last summer, she completed her level one internship at Lake Shore Country Club, but she ultimately sees herself working in hotels. When she has free time, some of her favorite activities include traveling and taekwondo. (top)

Haley Eder

Haley has been involved in the hospitality industry since the age of 17, where her passion for the industry was ignited at The Common Grill restaurant in Chelsea, Michigan. Haley completed her first internship at Aspen Meadows Resort in Aspen, Colorado, where she discovered her interest in special events and catering. Haley completed her second internship this past summer in Chicago working for Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises where she loved being part of such a successful and unique restaurant group. Haley also studied abroad in Rome, Italy, last spring and is excited to incorporate the culture, food and wine she experienced there into this year’s Les Gourmets. Upon graduation, Haley plans to go into the restaurant industry. (top)

Brooke Amelse

Brooke is a sophomore and was recently admitted to The School of Hospitality Business. In addition to being involved in Les Gourmets, she is on the executive board of Alumni Auction, a member of Phi Chi Theta, a coed professional business fraternity, and training to be a Level III supervisor in the Shaw Hall cafeteria. She completed her first internship as a hostess and server at Longhorn Steakhouse and is completing her second internship this summer at Baltimore Country Club. Brooke also did an externship with Starwood Hotels over holiday break. She is very excited to be involved in Les Gourmets this year and knows that it is going to be a great experience! (top)

Megan Mammoser

Megan is a junior at MSU in The School of Hospitality Business. She is really excited to be involved with Les Gourmets last year she found out about Les Gourmets through volunteering as a server. Megan did her first internship in Mackinaw City this past summer working for the Baymont Inn and Suites. She also enjoys helping out with her family's resort on Houghton Lake. Megan is most interested in the lodging division of hospitality. Megan cannot wait to see how good Les Gourmets is this year. (top)

Leah Rice

Leah is a native of Novi, Michigan and besides studying hospitality, Leah is currently pursuing a minor in Spanish. She loves to travel, drink coffee, and eat chocolate and spent the past two summers on Long Island working at Piping Rock club. She also completed her level 1 and 2 internships there. Besides Les Gourmets, Leah is pledging the co-ed professional Business Fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi and is a member of the MSU Coffee Club. Leah hopes to study abroad next year in Spain and aspires to pursue a career in the event planning industry upon graduation. (top)
