When is the event?
Les Gourmets 2008 will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. The reception is currently scheduled to begin at 5:30 pm and the dinner at 7:00 pm. Can I buy tickets? Yes! Please see our “Request Tickets” page. Traditionally Les Gourmets guests include industry professionals, MSU faculty members, alumni of The School of Hospitality Business, and family. What is the dress code for Les Gourmets guests? Les Gourmets is a formal dinner. Ladies may wear dresses or other suitable formal wear (business professional). Gentlemen are not required to wear a tuxedo but many will. If no tie is worn, a jacket is required. Jeans, baseball caps, t-shirts, and tennis/running/street shoes are not permitted. What will be served at the reception and the dinner? Our reception and six course dinner menus are one of the closely guarded secrets of Les Gourmets. What we can tell you is reception will feature delicious hors d'oeuvres, champagne, a uniquely South American mixed drink, and soft drinks (all of which are complimentary). Dinner will feature six-courses. Each course will be designed and prepared by our students under the direction of Chef Allan Sherwin and Chef Rick Brown. Each table will also feature a South American surprise! If I'm volunteering, when are the training dates going to be? Les Gourmets Open House is Tuesday, February 19th from 6pm-9pm in the HB Dining Room on the Garden Level of Kellogg Hotel (across from Brody). Please stop by at your convenience to sign up for your desired position and get fitted for your unique Les Gourmets uniform. All Les Gourmets volunteers are required to attend the Open House. Further training dates will depend on your individual position. Do I need to be an HB student to volunteer? No way! Les Gourmets is an MSU event as much as it is an HB event; all students are more than welcome to be a part of Les Gourmets. Is previous LG experience required to volunteer? No previous experience is required. Les Gourmets is an opportunity for students to learn in a non-threatening, but very realistic environment. The training will cover everything you need to succeed as a volunteer! Do I have to provide my own uniform? For a server, all that's required are black pants, socks and shoes, and a black undershirt of some kind. Volunteers working in the heart of house will need black pants and black, non-slip shoes, and their 345 or 485 chef coat. Who can I contact if I have any more questions? PPlease contact Jenna and Moriah, the Les Gourmets HR Directors, with further questions at lesgourmetshr@gmail.com. They will be happy to answer your questions and/or direct your questions to the appropriate Board member. |
