The Les Gourmets Tradition

Welcome!

As one of the most highly regarded hospitality schools in the nation, The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University offers an exceptionally well-crafted curriculum taught by innovative professors and drawn equally from two areas of study: general business education and the hospitality industry. Particularly important to future employers is the wealth of hands-on experiences and group interactions available to students in the classroom and from a multitude of annual student-driven special events. This premier annual event, anticipated throughout the mid-Michigan community as well as on campus, is Les Gourmets.

It is the oldest event within The School of Hospitality Business. Founded as a student organization in 1951, it wasn't until 1955 that the club was able to put on a dinner to showcase the talents and professionalism of the students in the Restaurant Management program within The School of Hospitality Business. This student-run event has changed dramatically over the years. It started as a simple buffet, and then became a dinner dance.

Now Les Gourmets is a seven course formal dinner, with a champagne reception. It is unique in that it combines all of the skills and practices taught by our professors into one culminating event. Over 300 students participate, under the direction of Chef-Professor Sherwin, working in all areas, such as management, sales, marketing, purchasing, finance, cooking, bartending, serving, and more!

Welcome to the Les Gourmets experience. Please use this website to get to know our fine event and the people behind it.
